Classification/Purpose:


This exempt job classification is responsible for achieving landscape maintenance, construction, and snow removal sales goals, establishing, and enhancing a proactive and successful team of professionals who achieve sales goals, and developing an infrastructure focused on sustainable company growth; performs other work as required.


Essential Functions:

  • Achieves sales goals.
  • develops plans and strategies for developing business and achieving the company’s landscape maintenance, construction, and snow removal sales goals.
  • creates a culture of success and ongoing business and goal achievement;
  • builds, manages, and improves the sales team to deliver profitable growth;
  • generates results-based marketing initiatives;
  • establishes social media, marketing calendar, and web-site presence to increase company revenue;
  • works with vendors to improve SEO;
  • builds and sustains a consistent sales pipeline to fuel continuous company success and growth;
  • develops, maintains, and adheres to departmental and organizational budgets, strategic plans, and forecasting models;
  • defines optimal sales force structure;
  • recruits, hires, trains, and disciplines sales staff;
  • works with the goal of helping the company become known as an employer of choice and a sales force that top salespeople want to join regardless of industry affiliation;
  • defines and coordinates sales staff compensation and incentive programs that motivate the sales team to achieve their sales targets;
  • defines and coordinates sales training programs that enable staff to achieve their potential and support company sales objectives;
  • manages customer expectations and contributes to a high level of customer satisfaction;
  • defines sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identifies improvements where and when required;
  • oversees client relations staff to improve customer service quality, job retention, and internal partnerships with field operations;
  • implements an infrastructure and related systems to support the success of the sales function;
  • provides detailed and accurate sales forecasting;
  • compiles information and data related to customer and prospect interactions;
  • monitors customer, market and competitor activity and provides feedback to company leadership team and other company functions;
  • works closely with field operations to establish successful support, channel, and partner programs;
  • manages key customer relationships and participate in closing strategic opportunities;
  • sells landscape maintenance contracts;
  • develops proposals, submits bids, and makes presentations in support of sales efforts;
  • utilizes computer skills, information technology, and MS Office applications effectively; and
  • provides excellent service (e.g., accurate, complete, and timely) to clients, work-site partners, and company staff in a courteous and efficient manner.

Education/Experience:


An example of the preferred education, training, and/or experience that demonstrates possession of the knowledge, skills, and competencies for this position includes: at least three (3) years of professional sales, marketing, and business experience similar to that presented above.

  • License: Incumbents are required to possess a valid driver’s license.

  • Certifications: No certifications are required of this position.
  • Working Conditions: Work is predominately in an office environment with associated noise, space, and computer screen exposure. Work may also be conducted outdoors with exposure to varying temperatures, weather conditions, noise levels, dust, pesticides, herbicides, grease, oils, dust, fumes, and electrical currents.
  • Background Investigation: Incumbents must have a reputation for honesty and trustworthiness. Misdemeanor and/or felony convictions may be disqualifying depending on type, number, severity, and recency.
  • Prior to appointment, candidates may be subject to a background investigation and/or drug test.
  • Introductory Period: Incumbents appointed to this job classification serve an introductory period of three months.
